Ground force Day 2021

Dear Parents,

We are so excited that work has now begun for our Forest School. I have reattached the plan and a couple of photos to give you a flavour.

What we now need is ‘hard labour’ to clear the site of brambles and so I am writing to ask if you would kindly give up a couple of hours for some outside digging and clearing.  We will be fully supported by the Naturescape Team on the day.

Our Ground force Day will be on Thursday 8th April from 10:00 am until 4:00pm. Due to Covid restrictions, we can’t have an ‘open invite’ as we usually would as we need to limit numbers to a maximum of 6 in each slot.

We are going to have three 2 hour slots:

10:00 am – 12:00pm

12:00 pm – 2:00 pm

2:00 pm – 4:00pm

Due to the restrictions, we sadly won’t be able to deliver refreshments as we usually do but we will have an urn with tea and coffee in the outside classrooms so that you can top up your own flasks.

Also due to restrictions, we would also need you to bring your own equipment:

spade

secateurs/loppers if you have as there will be more chopping than digging!

appropriate footwear and very strong gloves essential!

Children are very welcome to come along with you, although we will ask them to stay in family groups or year groups.

This will be the first time we have been able to invite parents on to the school site in a year and to say we are excited is an understatement. While you are here, you can also have a look at the new MUGA – the finish date is still the 22nd April.

We hope this will be the beginning of not only things getting back to ‘normal’ but to the new parts of our school –  MUGA, EYFS playground, Forest School and new foyer- being ready for all the children to enjoy.

Please email me if you would be happy to come for a 2- hour slot and which slot you would like;

headteacher@stnicholasprimaryschool.org.uk.

It will be so lovely to see you.

Best wishes,

Julie Holland
