Welcome to Term 1.

I hope you all had a lovey summer break and are ready to make a great start to our year together in Elm class.

This term in year 6 we will be learning about History of Medicine. We will investigate how Medicine has developed through the ages; have a closer look at diseases, cures and methods our predecessors used to survive illnesses as well as global pandemics; and we’ll learn about creation and development of National Health Service. In this term’s science lessons we will develop our knowledge of microorganisms, which will help our understanding of the topic as well as the world and situation we are living through.

In English we will be improving our persuasive writing techniques and attempt to compose a letter encouraging our school’s Kitchen to move away from using  palm oil in our school meals.

In Maths we will be working on developing further efficient written methods for all four calculating operations, solving reasoning questions and developing our mastery skills.
